Film-Video-TV Cluster: Creative Enterprises & The Arts

Producer
Coordinate the activities of writers, directors, managers, and others throughout the production process. Perform management activities such as budgeting, scheduling, planning, and marketing. Determine production size, content, budget, production schedules and management policies.

Director
Interpret script, conduct rehearsals, and direct activities of cast and technical crew for live or taped performances or events. (27-2012)

Technical Director
Direct technical aspects of productions, checking and switching between video sources, and taking responsibility for product, including camera shots and graphics. Test equipment to ensure proper operation. Monitor broadcasts to ensure that programs conform to policies and regulations.

Camera Operator
Operate television or motion picture cameras Confer with directors, sound and lighting technicians, electricians, and other crew members to determine filming sequences, desired effects, camera movements, and lighting requirements.

Film and Video Editor
Edit films and video to insert music, dialogue, and sound effects, arrange films into sequences, and correct errors, using editing equipment. Select and combine shots to form a story. Verify key numbers and time codes on materials. Program computerized graphic effects. (27-4032)

Set Designer
Design film and televisionsets. May study scripts, confer with directors, and conduct research to determine appropriate architectural styles. (27-1027)

Actor
Perform roles in arts, entertainment, educational or commercial venues—live or recorded. May perform scripted or improvised content in traditional or multi-media formats.

Musician
Perform music in arts, entertainment, educational or commercial venues—live or recorded. May perform composed or improvised content in traditional or multi-media formats.

Composer/Arranger
Write and/or arrange music for artistic, entertainment or commercial purposes for live or recorded performance.

Dancer
Perform movement in arts, entertainment, educational or commercial venues—live or recorded. May perform choreographed or improvised content in traditional or multi-media formats.

Choreographer
Create and teach dance and movement patterns for artistic, entertainment, educational or commercial purposes for live or recorded performance. May direct and stage presentations

Agent
Represent and promote artists and performers to prospective employers. Conduct contract negotiation and other business matters for clients. (13-1011)

Director Artistic Director
Direct rehearsals and performances for arts, entertainment, educational or commercial venues—live or recorded. Collaborate with set design/wardrobe/lighting/sound and other production staff.

Conductor Music Director
Conduct music for artistic, entertainment, educational, worship, or commercial purposes for live or recorded performance. Select music and hire musicians.

Screen Writer/Playwright
Create text for artistic, entertainment, or commercial purposes for print or electronic media. May include writing lyrics, scripts, poetry, essays, or fiction, as well as a variety of commercial copy.
